I believe that Roger Shank is "more correct" on this one, Chris - don't you? Why would education need to be between two humans, when there are many programs that have been designed for an educational purpose and are mediated by the learner themselves, rather than by a live hand.

Take a look into the near future, circa 2020 and (if you concur with many of these outlooks) you'll see less and less instructional time occurring through the lens of the non-wired teacher.

Even now, any great WebQuest puts the teacher off to the side as the "center of instruction"; many software programs, a few television shows, many museums, theme parks, and yes, Andy :), a virtual plethora of other websites encapsulate information in an interactive, scaffolded fashion that allows learners to progress at their leisure and learn as they wish.

The web is a prime example of how education is shifting from the act of manipulation of the physical environment to intentional production of media programs to advance know-how and do-how.
